From the 1st to 4th of February, 2012 a delegation of representatives of the company "GC EFESk" made a business visit to Kenya at the official invitation of the government staff of the Prime Minister of Kenya, Mr Caroli Omondi. The delegation included top managers of group of companies: Director General Lazutkin Vyacheslav Alekseevich, Commercial Director Duksin Vladimir Alekseevich. Delegation was headed by Chairman of the Board of Directors Bobylev Evgeny Gennadievich.
The main purpose of the trip was to study the experience of Kenyan colleagues and discuss possible options for cooperation of GC EFESk with the Kenyan partners in the energy sector.
Within the four-day visit, were held meetings with representatives of political quarters in Kenya: the Russian Federation Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kenya, Mr. Makarenko A.M., the Kenyan Republic Prime Minister’s assistant Mr. Ketta Onyango, chief of the government staff of the Prime Minister of Kenya Mr. Caroli Omondi, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development of the Republic of Kenya Mr. Fredric Omula Gumo.
Present at the meetings were representatives of the business community in Kenya: Director General of the holding AMS International Ltd. Mr. Anil Samani, Senior Partner of consulting firm Aforp Investments Mr. Humphrey Wattanga and Director General of the law firm Sichangi Partners, specializing in international business in Kenya, Mr. George N. Sichangi.
The delegation members were familiarized with the activities of major energy companies of the Republic of Kenya, represented by Director General of KenGen Mr. Eddy Njoroge, chief engineer of the company Kettraco Mr. John Mativo, head of the department of telecommunications lines development of Kenya Power Company Mr. Thomas Ogutu. In the course of the meetings Kenyan colleagues showed the heads of GC EFESk a geothermal power plant, then they made a joint helicopter inspection of the territory in which was planned to build a transmission line.
During the meetings and talks the Kenyan side expressed an interest in the presence of Russian companies in the country, and the heads of GC EFESk emphasized its strong position in terms of enlargement of geographical presence and access to international markets. As a result of the visit were outlined the ways of further cooperation, and as the first steps towards the cooperation were the signing of cooperation memorandum and forming a joint venture between GC EFESk and AMS International Ltd.
